## Step by step

5 steps, about 3 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

You buy numbers on the web or on Mac, not in the mobile apps.

### 1. Open Numbers (20 s)

In the Administration space, open **Numbers**, then click **Buy a number**.

Menu: Administration › Numbers › Buy a number

### 2. Choose the country and type (20 s)

**Country**: Canada or United States. **Type**: **Local** for a number in your city, **Toll-free (1-800)** so people can reach you free of charge anywhere in the country.

### 3. Search by area code (30 s)

Enter your customers' **Area code** (514, 438, 418, 613…). The **Contains** field helps you find digits that are easy to remember, for example 2024.

### 4. Get the number (20 s)

Click **Get** on the line you chose. The message “Number … acquired successfully” confirms that the number is yours. It is active right away.

### 5. Choose who answers (1 min)

Open the number's page, **Answering** tab. By default, it is “Everyone, at the same time”. To change it, follow [Choose who answers a number](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/qui-repond).

Menu: Numbers › your number › Answering

## Key points

- The number is active as soon as you click “Get”.
- Local: your customers see a familiar area code. Toll-free: the call is free for them anywhere in Canada.
- Remember to declare the number's 911 address, in its Settings tab.

## Not working?

### Callizy shows “No number found”

1. Try a nearby area code: 438 or 263 instead of 514, for example.
2. Clear the “Contains” field.

### Callizy shows “Your trial is limited to 1 number. Activate your subscription to buy more.”

1. Open Settings › Billing and click “Activate now”.

### Callizy shows “Add a card to get a number.”

1. Add a card when Callizy asks for one. Nothing is charged during the trial.

### Callizy shows “This number is unavailable right now. Please pick another one.”

1. Someone took it between your search and your click. Search again and pick another one.
