## Before you start

- Be a manager on the Callizy account.
- The server or tool that will keep the key: the secret is shown only once.

## Step by step

5 steps, about 2 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

### 1. Open Developers (10 s)

In Administration, **Settings**, then **Developers**: the **API keys** tab opens.

Menu: Administration › Settings › Developers

### 2. Name the key (20 s)

Click **New key**. In **Key name**, say what it is for, for example “CRM integration”.

### 3. Choose the access (20 s)

**Read**: read calls, texts, contacts and statistics. **Read and write**, selected by default: on top of that, call, text and create contacts. Give only what the tool needs, then click **Generate**.

### 4. Copy the key and the secret (30 s)

“Key created, copy it now”: copy the **Public key** and the **Secret** with their buttons, then click **Done**. The secret will never be shown again.

### 5. Call the API (30 s)

Each request carries two headers: **X-API-Key**, the key, which starts with clz_, and **X-API-Secret**. This request returns your company’s record.

```
curl https://api.callizy.ca/api/v1/company/ -H "X-API-Key: clz_…" -H "X-API-Secret: …"
```

## Key points

- The secret is shown only once: keep it on your server.
- A Read key gets a 403 error on any write.
- Disabling a key can be undone; deleting it stops the integrations that use it.

## Not working?

### Callizy shows “Name is required”

1. Give the key a name: the **Generate** button then becomes active.

### You lost the secret

1. It is no longer shown: create a new key, connect it, then delete the old one.

### The tool gets a 403 error when writing

1. The key is Read only: create one with **Read and write**.

### The tool no longer connects

1. In the list, is the key “Disabled”? Turn it back on with the button on its row.
