## Step by step

6 steps, about 3 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

### 1. Open the company hours (20 s)

In **Numbers**, choose your line. Under **Who answers**, the **Business hours** row shows “Always open” at first. Click **Edit for the company**.

Menu: Administration › Numbers › your number › Edit for the company

![The “Answering” tab of a number in the Callizy dashboard: the “Business hours” line shows “Always open”, and the cursor is on “Edit for the company”.](https://callizy.ca/images/apprendre/guides/heures-d-ouverture-1.webp)

### 2. Choose the mode (20 s)

Under **Availability mode**, three choices: **Always open**, **Always closed** or **Custom hours**, to set each day. These hours apply to all your numbers.

![The “Business hours” screen in Callizy settings: the “Custom hours” mode is selected, and each day of the week has a switch and its hours.](https://callizy.ca/images/apprendre/guides/heures-d-ouverture-2.webp)

### 3. Set each day (1 min)

Turn off the closed days, for example Saturday and Sunday: they switch to “Unavailable”. For the others, choose the opening and closing times, for example 08:00 and 17:00. Click **Save**, at the top right.

### 4. Check on your number (20 s)

Back on your line, the **Business hours** row shows your hours, for example “Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00”, with the note “Follows the company hours”.

### 5. If needed, hours for a single number (1 min)

Does a number need different hours? On its page, turn on **Own hours for this number**. It starts from the company hours: adjust day by day, then **Save**. Turn the switch off to go back to the company hours.

### 6. Test (1 min)

Call your number and listen. Let it ring: with no answer, your voicemail takes the message.

## Key points

- You set the hours once, for the company. All your numbers follow them, except a number that has its own.
- In the evening, your agents no longer ring, unless their personal schedule says so. A manager who is online still rings.
- With a custom flow, its Business hours block decides: without that block, your hours change nothing.

## Not working?

### Your agents still ring in the evening

1. Check their personal schedule: it can make them ring outside business hours.
2. A manager who is online still rings: that is normal.
3. Does the number have its own hours? Look at the **Own hours for this number** switch.

### Your hours change nothing

1. The number follows a custom flow: add the **Business hours** block to it.

### Callizy shows “Unable to save business hours.”

1. Check your connection, then click **Save** again.
2. If the message comes back, write to support.

## Frequently asked questions

### What happens when someone calls outside business hours?

Your agents no longer ring and the caller leaves a message. The AI receptionist can also answer when you are closed: see [Create and test your AI receptionist](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/creer-sa-receptionniste).

### My number has a custom flow: do my hours count?

Only if the flow contains the **Business hours** block: it is the block that sends the call to Open or Closed. See [Create your first call flow](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/premier-flux).

## Video transcript

Your business hours, and who answers. In two minutes. Here's the result: on your number, who answers, and when you're open. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To get there, you need your Callizy number, set up. To start, “Numbers”. Choose your line. You're on the “Answering” tab. Under “Who answers”, the path of a call, in plain words. Here: “Everyone, at the same time”. Everyone who is online rings together. Nobody picks up? The caller leaves a message. For now, everyone is you. To change it, two buttons. “Change flow”: you plug in a flow that's already built. “Create custom flow”: a menu, a message, the time of day routing the call. That's the video “Your first call flow”. A specific group, or the team in a flow: Team plan. And the AI receptionist can answer for you: all the time, after hours, or when nobody picks up. That's the next video. Below, the “Business hours”: always open, like the company. Click “Edit for the company”. Three choices: “Always open”, “Always closed”, or day by day: “Custom hours”. Close the weekend: Saturday, Sunday. Opening at 8 a.m. Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. Thursday. Friday. Closing, 5 p.m., is already set. “Save”. Back to “Numbers”, your line: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The number “Follows the company hours.” And at night? Your agents stop ringing, unless their personal schedule says otherwise. A manager who is online, like you, still rings. Otherwise, the caller leaves a message. With a flow, its “Business hours” block decides: without it, your hours change nothing. Should a number follow other hours? Turn on “Own hours for this number”. It starts from the company hours; adjust day by day. Here, we keep the company hours: turn it off. Remember one rule. Hours are set once, for the company. All your numbers follow them, except one that has its own. One last step: call your number and listen. Let it ring: with no answer, your voicemail takes the message. Callizy, the phone that answers when you can't.
