# Connect the agent to your software

The agent checks your software during the call: record, order, status.

- Role: Manager
- Duration: 6 min
- On: Web, Mac
- Learning Centre: https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/logiciels-connectes
- Open this screen in Callizy: https://app.callizy.ca/en/manager?view=ai-agents

## Before you start

- Your AI agent, already created: see [Create and test your AI receptionist](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/creer-sa-receptionniste).
- Software that has an API: an https address and a key. Your provider or your developer gives them to you.

## Step by step

7 steps, about 6 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

### 1. Open the tab (10 s)

Open your agent, **Connected software** tab. Click **Connect software**, then **Other software**.

Menu: Administration › AI voice agents › your agent › Connected software

### 2. Paste the address (1 min)

**Address**: your API’s address. Put in braces what the agent must ask, for example https://api.mysoftware.com/orders/{numero}. {telephone} adds the caller’s number: if it is not in the address, that number is not sent.

### 3. Paste the key (20 s)

**Key**: the key given by your software. It will not be shown again.

### 4. Say when to use it (30 s)

**When to use it**: for example “When the caller asks about the status of their file or order.”. This field is required.

### 5. Try it (1 min)

Under **Try**, enter **A customer's phone number** and a value for each pair of braces. Click **Try**, at the bottom: you see **What the agent will receive**. The try really queries your software.

### 6. Save (20 s)

Click **Save**: “Connection saved”. The line shows **Used** for this agent. Then click **Update**, at the top of the agent’s page.

### 7. Test (1 min)

On the agent’s card, **Test**, then **Call me**. Ask your question: the agent looks up your software and answers.

## Key points

- The agent looks up your software only in the situation described in **When to use it**.
- It receives your software’s answer as is: it should only contain what the agent can tell the caller.
- Your software has 5 seconds to answer. Otherwise, the agent apologizes, takes the caller’s details and says the team will call back.
- **Remove** deletes the connection for all your agents. For a single agent, turn off the switch: **Not used**.

## Settings

- **Advanced settings**: At the bottom of the form, **Advanced settings**: the action’s name, the **Parameters sent**, the **API down or too slow** sentence and, under **Technical settings**, the **Method** and the **Timeout (s)**, from 1 to 10.
- **Request signing (for developers)**: Callizy signs every request. For your software to check it: **Edit**, **Advanced settings**, then **Create a secret**, and give it to your developer. It will not be shown again. Creating a new one replaces the old one.
- **Test a saved connection**: In the list, **Test**: enter a customer’s number, as if that customer called your agent.

## Not working?

### Callizy shows “Test failed”

1. Check the address and the key.
2. Read the **Detail** under the result.

### The connection will not save

1. Fill in **When to use it**: it is required.
2. The address must start with https://.

### The agent does not look up the software

1. The line must show **Used**.
2. Click **Update**, at the top of the agent’s page.
3. Make **When to use it** more precise.

### The software does not receive the caller’s number

1. Add {telephone} to the **Address**, for example ?tel={telephone}.
