Choose the right microphone, give the browser permission and test your connection.

- Role: Everyone
- Duration: 2 min
- On: Web, Mac, iPhone, Android
- Learning Centre: https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/qualite-d-appel
- Open this screen in Callizy: https://app.callizy.ca/en/dashboard

## Before you start

- A microphone: the computer’s, or better, a headset.
- A stable Internet connection.

## Step by step

6 steps, about 2 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

### 1. Plug in your headset (10 s)

Plug it in before the call. With a headset, the customer’s voice doesn’t come back through your speakers: no echo.

### 2. Open the audio devices (10 s)

At the bottom of the left sidebar, next to the language, click the headset icon, **Audio device**. The **Audio devices** menu opens.

Menu: Left sidebar › Audio device

### 3. Allow the microphone (20 s)

The menu shows **Allow microphone**? Click it, then accept the browser’s prompt. Without this permission, the other person can’t hear you.

### 4. Choose the microphone and the speaker (20 s)

Under **Microphone**, pick your headset’s; under **Speaker**, where the sound goes. Just plugged in a device? The **Refresh** button reloads the list.

### 5. During the call (10 s)

**Mute**: the customer can no longer hear you; **Unmute** turns it back on. Nobody can hear you? Check this button first.

### 6. In the app (10 s)

During a call, the sound button sends the voice to the speaker, the headphones or a Bluetooth device. On Android, it opens **Audio output**.

## Key points

- The microphone and the speaker are chosen in **Audio devices**, at the bottom of the left sidebar.
- The browser must be allowed to use the microphone.
- A headset plugged in before the call gives the best sound.

## Not working?

2. Still nothing? Allow the microphone in the browser, then reload the page.

### Callizy shows “No speaker detected”

1. Some browsers don’t let you pick the speaker: the sound then plays through the computer’s audio output.

### The sound cuts out or crackles

1. Check your Internet connection: weak Wi-Fi cuts the voice.
2. Stop videos and big downloads during the call.
3. The banner says “Reconnecting the phone…”? Callizy is reconnecting: wait a few seconds.

### The customer hears an echo

1. Use a headset: your speakers send the customer’s voice back into your microphone.

### Callizy shows “Microphone permission required to call”

1. On Android, open the phone’s settings and allow the microphone for Callizy.
