# Transfer your number from Google Voice

What to find in the Google Admin console and keep before transferring your number to Callizy.

- Role: Manager
- Duration: 15 min
- Learning Centre: https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-google-voice

## Before you start

- In Canada, Google Voice goes through Google Workspace. You need the **Google Voice Admin** role in the Google Admin console.
- For the account number: the right to manage billing (**Billing management**).
- **Keep Google Voice active until the transfer is complete.**

## Step by step

8 steps, about 15 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

Steps 1 to 6 are done in the Google Admin console. Menus are named as in its English version.

**In the Google console**

### 1. Write down the transfer PIN (2 min)

Open **Apps › Google Workspace › Google Voice › Number porting › Port-out info**. Write down the code: it is the transfer PIN. Do not change it during a transfer: the request could be refused. The details are on [Google’s help page](https://knowledge.workspace.google.com/admin/voice/port-out-voice-numbers).

### 2. Write down the account number (1 min)

Open **Billing › Payment accounts**. The account number is under **Account ID**. You need the right to manage billing.

### 3. Note the customer name and the service address (2 min)

The service address is that of the Voice account’s primary location: **Google Voice › Locations**. It is not the billing address, nor the address assigned to the number. In Canada, Google checks the customer name and the postal code of this address: write them in Callizy as they are at Google.

### 4. Download your latest bill (2 min)

Callizy asks for last month’s bill, showing the name, the address and the numbers. Download your latest Google bill.

### 5. Export your contacts and history (5 min)

Your contacts are in Google Contacts: select them all, then **Export**, in **Google CSV** format. History, text messages and voicemail messages: Google Takeout, Voice service.

### 6. Keep Google Voice active until the transfer (until transfer day)

Do not cancel Google Voice before Callizy confirms the transfer is complete: otherwise, the transfer could be refused. Do not change the Port-out info code either.

**In Callizy**

### 7. Do the transfer in Callizy (20 min)

In the Administration space, open **Numbers**, then **Transfer a number**. In **Carrier**, write Google Voice. Enter the account number, the PIN from Port-out info, the customer name and the primary location’s address, add the bill, then sign the letter. Step by step: [Transfer your current number to Callizy](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/transferer-son-numero).

Menu: Administration › Numbers › Transfer a number

**At Google, at the end**

### 8. Cancel Google Voice once the transfer is complete (5 min)

Callizy writes to you when the transfer is complete. Call your number from another phone: it should ring in Callizy. Only then, cancel Google Voice.

## Key points

- The service address is that of the Voice account’s primary location, not the billing address.
- Do not change the Port-out info code during the transfer.
- Do not cancel Google Voice before the transfer is complete.

## Not working?

### Callizy shows “Refused”

1. Compare the customer name and the postal code entered in Callizy with those of the primary location (Google Voice › Locations), letter by letter.
2. Check the PIN: the Port-out info code, if it has not changed.
3. When the request shows “Action needed”, click “Correct the request”: the request is sent again.

### You do not have access to Number porting

1. You need the Google Voice Admin role. Ask an administrator of your Google Workspace account for it.

### You do not have access to Payment accounts

1. You need the right to manage billing. Ask the person who manages Google billing for the Account ID.
