# My texts won't send

United States and toll-free numbers: the registrations most often missing.

- Role: Everyone
- Duration: 3 min
- On: Web, Mac
- Learning Centre: https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/textos-ne-partent-pas
- Open this screen in Callizy: https://app.callizy.ca/en/manager?view=trust

## Before you start

- Your Callizy account.
- To register: be a manager.

## Step by step

6 steps, about 3 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

### 1. Read the warning (10 s)

Above the text box, before you even type, Callizy warns you when a text can’t go out from this number. The **Trust center** link leads to the missing registration.

### 2. To Canada, from a local number (10 s)

Nothing to do: it works right away.

### 3. To the United States, from a local number (1 min)

Carriers require your business and your texts to be registered. In Administration, **Settings**, **Trust center**, section **Texting US numbers**: **Your business (brand)** and **Your texts (campaign)** must be **Approved**. Nothing goes out until the campaign is approved.

Menu: Administration › Settings › Trust center

### 4. From a toll-free number (30 s)

Each toll-free number has its own application, free of charge, to text Canada as well as the United States. In **Toll-free numbers**, click **Enable texting**. Carriers answer within days, sometimes weeks.

### 5. Follow the status (10 s)

Each application is **To do**, **Under review**, **Approved** or **Rejected**. Rejected: the reason shows. Fix it, then **Resubmit**.

### 6. Read the error message (10 s)

Everything is approved and the text still won’t go? The message says why: a landline, an invalid number, a customer who unsubscribed. The causes are below.

## Key points

- From a local number, texting Canada works right away.
- To the United States from a local number: your business and your texts must be registered.
- A toll-free number only texts once its application is approved.

## Not working?

### Callizy shows “Texting a US number from a local number requires a carrier registration. Do it in the Trust center.”

1. Your manager fills in **Texting US numbers**, in the **Trust center**.
2. See [Texts to the United States and from a toll-free number](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/textos-etats-unis-sans-frais).

### Callizy shows “This toll-free number is not yet verified for texting. Enable texting from the Numbers page.”

1. Your manager clicks **Enable texting** on this toll-free number, in **Numbers** or in the **Trust center**.
2. Status **Under review**? Nothing goes out until approval.

### Callizy shows “This recipient has unsubscribed from your messages.”

1. The customer asked to stop getting your texts: call them instead. See [Texts and CASL](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/textos-lcap).

### Callizy shows “This number can’t receive text messages.”

1. It’s often a landline: call instead.

### Callizy shows “This number is your own line: you can’t text yourself.”

1. The recipient is one of your company’s numbers: text another number.

### Callizy shows “Sending messages to this region isn’t enabled.”

1. The recipient’s country isn’t open to texts: contact support.

### Callizy says “file too large”

1. Images and audio: 5 MB max. Videos and PDFs: 75 MB max; too heavy for a text, they go out as a link.
2. Up to 10 files per text.

### Callizy shows “The text did not go out.”

1. Try again in a moment.
2. Still not? Check that the subscription is active: see [Manage your subscription and invoices](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/abonnement-factures). Otherwise, contact support.

## Frequently asked questions

### Are texts limited?

No, not the ones you type in Callizy. Only automated sends, through the API or Zapier for example, have a cap, shown in **Billing**.

### Does US registration cost anything?

Carrier fees would apply, passed through at cost: the amount shows in the **Trust center**. A toll-free application is free.

### Does my local number text Canada without registering?

Yes, right away.
