## Before you start

- Be the owner or a manager of the Callizy account.
- **An active paid plan with Callizy.** During the free trial, you can prepare the request: our team sends it once the account owner has activated the plan.
- Your current carrier’s information: account number, transfer PIN if there is one, account holder’s name and service address, with your latest bill. Where to find them: [Bell](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-bell), [Rogers](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-rogers), [Telus](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-telus), [Videotron](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-videotron), [Fizz](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-fizz), [Koodo](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-koodo), [Fido](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-fido), [Virgin Plus](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-virgin-plus), [Freedom](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-freedom), [Chatr](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-chatr), [Quo](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-quo), [RingCentral](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-ringcentral), [Google Voice](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-google-voice), or [another carrier](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-autre-operateur).
- **Your current service stays active until the transfer is complete.** If it is cancelled before, the number can be lost.

## Step by step

8 steps, about 20 min.

Screenshots show Callizy in French. Button names are given in English.

The transfer is done in Callizy, on the web or on Mac.

### 1. Open the transfer (30 s)

In the Administration space, open **Numbers**, then click **Transfer a number**. The transfer has four steps: Numbers, Account holder, Bill, Signature.

Menu: Administration › Numbers › Transfer a number

### 2. Enter the numbers and your carrier (3 min)

Enter each number to transfer and check **Cell phone** if it is one. Say whether you are transferring **all the numbers on the account** or **only some of the numbers**. Already have a Callizy number? It answers during the transfer, and its settings will move to the transferred number. With several numbers, choose which one in **Number to use during the transfer**. Under **Your current carrier**, write its name in **Carrier**, then the **account number** and the **transfer PIN** if there is one. Click **Continue**.

### 3. The account holder and address, as on the bill (2 min)

Write the first name, the last name and, if the service is in the business’s name, the business name, **exactly as on the bill**. Then the service address: a real address in Canada, no PO box, with the apartment or suite if it appears on the bill. Click **Continue**.

### 4. Add the bill (1 min)

Last month’s bill, showing the name, the address and the numbers. Click **Choose a file**, or drag it into the box: PDF, JPG or PNG, 10 MB at most.

### 5. Sign the authorization letter (2 min)

Enter who signs, and the email where the copy of the letter is sent: the account’s email is already filled in. Check the four boxes, sign with your finger or the mouse, then click **Sign and send**. **Sign with my phone** shows a QR code to scan with your cell phone. Prefer to sign by hand? Click **Download the letter**, then send it back signed.

### 6. Import your contacts, if you exported them (2 min)

If you exported your contacts from your old service, go back to the **Phone** space, at the bottom of the menu, and open **Contacts**. Click **Import** (**Import a file** if the contact list is empty), then choose the file: CSV or Excel, one row per contact, phone number required. The details are in [Import your contacts](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/importer-contacts).

### 7. The day of the transfer (4 to 8 days)

Allow **4 to 8 business days** on average. We write to you as soon as your current carrier has set the date; it also shows in the transfer tracking, in Numbers. That day, keep your phone close at hand. For a cell phone, your current carrier sends a text: reply within 90 minutes, or the transfer is cancelled.

### 8. Check, then cancel the old service (5 min)

When Callizy writes to tell you the transfer is complete, call your number from another phone: it should ring in Callizy. Text messages can follow 2 to 3 business days later. Only then, cancel your old service with your carrier.

## Key points

- Do not cancel your current service before the transfer is complete.
- The name and address must be exactly those on the bill: it is the top reason for refusals.
- Until the day of the transfer, your number keeps ringing with your current carrier. Your calls do not stop.
- The transfer is free with Callizy.

## Not working?

### Callizy shows “A subscription is required to transfer a number.”

1. The account owner opens Settings › Billing and clicks “Activate now”.
2. A manager does not see billing: ask the owner.

### Callizy shows “No PO box: a real address”

1. Write the service address shown on the bill, not a PO box.

### Callizy shows “Action needed”

1. Open the transfer in Numbers: the message says what does not match.
2. Click “Correct the request”, then “Sign again” if Callizy asks you to.

### Your carrier refuses the transfer

1. Open the transfer in Numbers: the refused number is marked “Refused”, with the reason when it is known.
2. Compare the name, the address, the account number and the PIN with your carrier’s. Its guide says where to find them: [Bell](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-bell), [Rogers](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-rogers), [Telus](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-telus), [Videotron](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-videotron), [Fizz](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-fizz), [Koodo](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-koodo), [Fido](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-fido), [Virgin Plus](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-virgin-plus), [Freedom](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-freedom), [Chatr](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-chatr), [Quo](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-quo), [RingCentral](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-ringcentral), [Google Voice](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-google-voice), or [another carrier](https://callizy.ca/en/apprendre/quitter-autre-operateur).
3. When the request shows “Action needed”, click “Correct the request”: the request is sent again.

### Callizy shows “This code has expired. Ask for a new one.”

1. The QR code to sign with the phone only lasts a short time. Click “New code”, or “Sign here instead” to sign on screen.

### Callizy shows “The transfer is too close to be cancelled. Write to us if needed.”

1. Cancelling is possible until 3 business days before the date. After that, write to support@callizy.ca.
