911 with Callizy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

Callizy is an internet phone service. 911 works, but not exactly like on a landline. Here is what you need to know.

Your emergency address

Each Callizy number has a registered address. That is the address emergency services receive when you dial 911. If you move or change offices, update it in Callizy, in the Numbers section.

When 911 may not work

  • An internet or power outage where you are calling from.
  • A missing or outdated emergency address: the call may reach the wrong center, or arrive later.
  • A call from somewhere other than the registered address: emergency services will receive the registered address, not where you are. Say your location out loud.

What we recommend

  • Keep a mobile phone or a landline for emergencies.
  • Tell everyone on your team about these limits.

Test without reaching emergency services

Dial 933 from Callizy. An automated message reads back the address registered for your number. Never call 911 to run a test.

Outside Canada and the United States

911 is not available. Use the local emergency number from a mobile phone.

The full terms are in section 7 of the terms of service.
