Transfer your number from Fido
The account number, the bill and the “Hi, it's Fido!” text to confirm.
Role : ManagerDuration : 25 min
Before you start
- Be the Fido account holder, or authorized for the business.
- Access to Fido My Account, or your latest Fido bill.
- For a cell phone: the phone with its Fido SIM card, turned on, on the day of the transfer.
Step by step
7 steps, about 25 min- 1
At Fido
Find your account number
2 minIt has 9 digits. It is on your bill, in the email that announces your online bill and in your service agreement. Copy it digit by digit.
- 2
Download your latest bill
2 minIn My Account, top menu, click Billing and payments, then View your bill. Choose the month, then Save or print your bill. The bill must show the account holder’s name, the service address and the numbers to transfer.
- 3
Transfer PIN and IMEI
1 minFor a cell phone, Canadian carriers ask for only one of these: the account number, the account password or PIN, or the phone’s IMEI. So the account number is enough. Fido did not give you a transfer PIN? Leave the field blank in Callizy. For a landline, what counts is the account holder’s name and the service address: write them as on the bill.
- 4
Under contract? Check your terms
5 minAre you under contract, or is your phone financed with Fido? Fees may apply under your terms: check them in your agreement or with Fido. Otherwise, there are no fees to leave.
- 5
Keep the line active until the end
4 to 8 daysDo not cancel anything with Fido before the transfer is complete. For a cell phone, Fido sends a text that starts with “Hi, it’s Fido!”. Reply YES within 90 minutes. Several lines: reply “Yes” to each text. Unable to reply? Call Fido at 1-866-405-8694.
- 6
In Callizy
Do the transfer in Callizy
10 minWith the account number and the bill, make the request in Callizy. Write “Fido” in Carrier, then the name and address exactly as on the bill. Everything is explained in Transfer your current number to Callizy.
- 7
After the transfer
Once the transfer is complete, close the old service
5 minWait until Callizy writes to tell you the transfer is complete. Usually, the service for the transferred number is cancelled on its own. To cancel another Fido service, call Fido: cancellation is done by phone.
